China purchased over 1.3 MMT of soybeans during Jan. 7-20, including almost 790,000 MT transferred from sales previously assigned to unknown destinations. This volume is a bit higher than usual for this time of year and may reflect China’s concern about the eventual size of Brazil’s crop.

Shipments to China were a very strong 1.2 MMT during the week ending Jan. 13, but this volume may have been in part a rebound from low exports during the first week of January. Overall, soybeans destined to China in January have been around average for the month.
