The U.S. imported 63 million liters of PJC from January through June 2018, down 25 percent from the first half of 2017, despite lower pricing this year. Thailand managed to hold on to its PJC market share in the U.S., somewhat at the Philippines’ expense, although Del Monte Pacific reports stronger domestic sales in the Philippines and sales into Asia helped offset loss of U.S. share. Thailand and the Philippines usually supply two-thirds or more of U.S. PJC.

U.S. imports of NFC pineapple juice totaled just 17.7 million liters for the first half of 2018, down nearly 54 percent from Jan-Jun 2017. The U.S. imported just 8.5 million liters of NFC juice from Costa Rica, compared to 19.2 million liters last year and the five-year average of 16.6 million liters.
