In the week of Sep. 12, reference sugar prices ticked slightly higher, up half a percent for estandar and up 0.8 percent for refined from the prior week.

Average estandar pricing dipped 0.1 percent in August, while refined pricing rose by 1.2 percent.

For September to date, estandar is up 0.3 percent from August and is up 5.6 percent YOY. Refined is down 0.1 percent from August and is up 1.7 percent YOY.

The peso strengthened slightly vs. the dollar in August and in early September. With reference prices strong this month, however, estandar and estandar are prices near USD 0.40 and USD 0.47 cents per lb, respectively—both 14-month highs.
