Through Dec. 28, harvested area for the 2019/20 Mexican sugarcane campaign was down 30 percent YOY. Cane crush was down 29 percent YOY, an improvement from being down 38 percent YOY two weeks prior.

Similarly, sugar production has made up some ground, from down 42 percent YOY two weeks prior to down a little over 31 percent YOY in the last report. With 44 mills currently reported in operation, sugar output reached 572,809 MT at the end of December.

Output of estandar sugar was reported at 399,340 MT, down 25 percent YOY. Output of refined is down 35 percent YOY at 112,920 MT.
