U.S. manufacturers produced 141 million gallons of biodiesel in March, up 8 percent from February but 8 million gallons less than a year ago. Total sales of B100, including B100 used in biodiesel blends, were about the same year over year. Imports were 21.4 million gallons, with Europe supplying almost 60 percent of that volume.

Utilization of major feedstocks was lower across the board compared to last year. Soybean oil use totaled 617 million pounds, an expected monthly upswing but down 1 percent from March 2018. Corn oil use was 141 million gallons, down 9 percent YOY, and the volume for yellow grease fell 12 percent to 121 million pounds, the first YOY decline for this feedstock since October 2017.
