Palm oil production during September increased 14.4 percent compared to the month prior to 1.85 million metric tons (MMT). This was the highest production in ten months and the largest for September since 2015. Palm oil output is expected to remain high for the rest of the year and slow down early next year as per the seasonal trend.

Demand, though, has weakened. Exports of bulk palm and lauric oils from Malaysia were 552,076 MT during the first half of October, down 29 percent from last month and down 22 percent from the volume for the same period last year.
