The U.S. quarterly inventory showed 75.52 million head of hogs and pigs as of Jun. 1, up 1 percent from Q1 2019—a stronger growth rate than seen in 2017 and 2018—and up 4 percent from a year ago. The Q2 population set a new record, as well. If the U.S. herd continues recent growth rates, we may see over 77.0 million head in Q3 and Q4.
