Ethanol manufacturers produced 31.3 million barrels (1.31 billion gallons) of ethanol during June, almost the same as May’s volume. Cumulative production rose to 7.71 million gallons, up 7 percent year over year. Production was also ahead of the five-year average for the month (+3.4 percent) and year to date (+3.0 percent), although we remain shy of levels seen leading up to the pandemic.
Monthly use by blenders and refiners was 27.4 million barrels (1.15 billion gallons) in July, down 1.4 percent YOY. Since COVID hit, use has been above 1.2 billion gallons only twice, in July and August 2021.
With use remaining stagnant, ethanol stocks ended June at 23.2 million barrels (1.31 billion gallons), up 2 percent from a year ago.
