  • May-22 corn closed Friday at $7.4175 per bushel after volatile trading last week between $7.26 and $7.67 per bushel. December corn futures closed the week at $6.4550 per bushel.

 S&D and fundamental factor

  • A Ukrainian grains analysis firm, APK-Inform, estimates spring crop plantings in the country will fall by 39 percent YOY. In 2021, Ukraine produced nearly 42 MMT of corn.

Weather, macro indicators, and news

  • Conditions remain dry for a good chunk of the U.S. Midwest. NOAA is forecasting below-average precipitation for much of the western Corn Belt for the next two weeks.
