Hints from Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara that the two-term president might consider running for a third term did not sit well with some of the parties within his ruling coalition. The story was enough to scotch a planned merger between Ouattara’s RDR and its ally PDCI, which has now announced plans to run its own candidate in the next presidential election.

Amid a rather acrimonious atmosphere, Ouattara dissolved the government, appointing Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly to form a new government. Reuters reports that the new government is expected to be announced on Tuesday, July 10.
