As of Jan. 16, Brazilian center-south cumulative cane crush is down 3.6 percent. With the sugar share at 36 percent—well below the sugar share of 47 percent a year ago—total sugar production was 26.4 MMT through mid-January, down 26.5 percent from total output of 35.8 MMT a year prior.

In the last bimonthly report, cane crush was up from last year, and the sugar share picked up slightly, but that translated to production of just 11,000 MT vs. 3,000 MT a year ago. In other words, the crush campaign is practically over.
