Center-south crush up 2.7 percent: From April through September, center-south crush reached 472.8 MMT of sugarcane.

In the second half of September, crush was 35.1 MMT of cane, up 26 percent from the same period last season.

Per UNICA, seven plants ended the campaigns as of the end of September, matching year-ago levels. Their reported crush volume, however, was down by nearly 36 percent.

Sugar output at 21.8 MMT: Cumulative center-south sugar share was reported at 35.4 percent of cane crushed, down almost a point YOY. As a result, total sugar output was 472.8 MMT.

In the last two weeks of September, sugar output totaled 1.79 MMT, up 39 percent YOY, thanks to an actual increase of the sugar share to 34.1 percent. Also helping was sugar content was 61.1 kg per MT of cane, up from 58.1 kg a year ago and from the current campaign’s average of 52.1 kg.
