As China buys virtually all Brazil’s soybeans, farmers are rushing to plant the 2018/19 crop. Planting pace is ahead of usual at 29 percent planted as of Oct. 1, compared to 16 percent a year prior. A crop planted earlier is usually harvested earlier, which would help China’s tight situation as it continues avoiding U.S. soybeans. Analysts expect Brazil’s planted area to increase by 2.8 percent to 36.14 million hectares (89.3 million acres). Total production is projected at a record 120.4 MMT.
