Indian sugar output up 6.8 percent YOY

Output from October through February was estimated at 24.77 MMT of sugar, up from cumulative output of 23.177 MMT a year ago, reported ISMA. Some 466 mills were continuing to crush into March, up from 457 mills a year prior.

As of Feb. 22, mills’ cane arrears were officially reported near US$2.88 million, a record at this time of the season. Special government loans totaling as much as US$1.5 million have been announced.
