Brazil sugar share down further in early harvest

For the first month of the April-March 2019/20 center-south sugarcane campaign, crush is reported at 45 MMT of cane. The ethanol share of cane use is 71.4 percent, up from 65.9 percent in April 2018.

Thanks to that low sugar share of 28.6 percent of cane, total sugar production is just 1.38 MMT of sugar, down 39 percent from production of 2.25 MMT during April 2018. April output in just Sao Paulo state is down 44 percent YOY.
